On Friday 9th of February 2024, we lost our brother and friend, Dr. Herbert Wigwe, CFR – Group Chief Executive Officer of Access Holdings – alongside his darling wife, Chizoba, and our son, Chizi, in a helicopter crash in the United States.
Herbert was one of us and as a mark of respect, our website will bear a memorial to him till we lay him to rest.
Our heartfelt thoughts and prayers are with the entire Wigwe family at this time, as we pray that the Lord gives them the fortitude to bear these profound losses. May Herbert, Chizoba and Chizi’s souls rest in perfect peace.
Aboard the same flight was our friend and in-law, Bamofin Abimbola Ogunbanjo, OFR - former Group Chairman of the Nigerian Exchange Group.
In this season of unimaginable pain and sorrow, our heartfelt thoughts and prayers are with our dear sister, Titi, our children and the entire Ogunbanjo family, as we pray that the Lord gives them the fortitude to bear this profound loss. May Abimbola’s soul rest in perfect peace.

Chapel Hill Denham is a leading independent investment banking, securities trading, and investment management firm. The firm is Nigeria’s most trusted advisor, focused on providing unbiased advisory, execution, and investment services to corporations, governments, institutions, and individuals involved in investing in and developing Nigeria and Africa. The firm actively promotes areas accretive to Africa’s and Nigeria’s economic development, targeting sectors such as Infrastructure, Energy and Renewables, Real Estate, SMEs, Digital and Financial Inclusion, Healthcare, and Education, among others.
The growing size and prosperity of the middle classes across Nigeria offer an incredible reward to those managers that can address the needs of institutional clients and retail investors in the country. The investment industry is a natural beneficiary of the increasing growth in wealth and savings among the middle classes across many emerging markets. A consistent focus on under-served segments which have had limited access to capital can lead to significant gains in economic development and impact. Historically, there has been a lack of an investment culture in Nigeria and across Africa, but even a small shift can present significant opportunities given the scale of Nigeria’s population.
